Name: Theresa Orlando
Marital status: Married with two children
Neighborhood: Howard Beach
Party affiliation: Independent, but she said is registered as a Republican.
Voting district: State Senate District 15
Voting history: She said she votes for the candidate, not the party. She voted for President George W. Bush in 2004 and John McCain in 2008. And she said she voted for Democrat Joseph Addabbo in the last senatorial race.
“I voted for President Bush because I agreed with what his policies were and I thought he did a phenomenal job during 9/11,” she said. “I’m going with Romney this year, but I’m actually not happy with either candidate. I’m scared to vote for Obama.”
And, Orlando said, she is sticking with Addabbo in the upcoming state Senate election.
“I voted for Addabbo last time because of what he does for the community here in Queens,” she said. “He shows himself. He’s not one of those guys who is hidden like Ulrich. … And I actually trust him, which is hard to say about any candidate.”
Main concerns: The economy
“I’m worried about my children’s future,” she said. “My daughter is 10 and my son is 7. I’m worried just about jobs for them, opportunities, Social Security – all that stuff that is so important for us but when the time comes, will it be there for them or will it be gone?”
